Nebraska 2011

Once again we had the great pleasure of hunting in NE for 2 days on either end of the MAWTA trial. The Friday before the trial I went out with Candy and Erin accompanied by Sadie, Kiwi, and Patton. With Cali expecting in just 4 weeks she had to sit this one out and she was not  impressed. We spent the entire day driving around the country side checking out holes and even found a fox to bolt. Erin's little terrier did a great job locating the hole in dense brush and entered what we can only assume is a very deep set as we lost her on the locator boxes. Thankfully she is a veteran in the field and bolted a fox and a kit in perfect form. Once she was out and up Sadie and Patton went in for a look around and I was very impressed with Patton's tenacity as even though the earth was too small for such a large boy to fit he pushed and worked his way through it with desire. A wonderful day with some very good friends and their lovely terriers.

The Monday after the trial I had the privilege to school my young dogs with both Lynn Harbor and Brent Hopkins. Both men have been digging dogs since before my time and have a wealth of knowledge of terriers, feild work, and digging the perfect hole. While we may not have found the racoons we were looking for that day a couple dogs did get down with some groundhogs but we were out-dug and they both got away.
